MashUp Contemporary Dance Company is an all female touring contemporary dance company that aims to create artistically innovative works and engage diverse communities in the invaluable experience of dance through performances, after school educational programming, and participation with the Los Angeles Dance Community. We strive to inspire our audiences by exploring the use of multimedia to expand our expressive capabilities and by creating a unique MashUp aesthetic combining jazz, modern, and hip hop vocabulary with our foundation strongly rooted in ballet. We aim to share the gift of dance and use it to empower children in expressing themselves, understanding their bodies and physical capabilities, and impress the importance of physical activity and health through the joy of dance. A special importance is placed on young girls and women as we seek to inspire them to be strong, confident, and articulate females.
Dance is an incredible vehicle for commenting on the human experience, relevant social issues, and philosophical possibilities. We believe this incomparable experience should be available to all people regardless of race, age, income, or background. We are proud to be a part of the diverse and exciting Los Angeles Dance Community and aim to further grow as meaningful members of this community through our local programming and world touring.

Marc Krens CPA
Mr. Krens brings a diverse background of public accounting, non-profit and international business experience to the MashUp Board of Directors. Mr. Krens experience includes providing accounting and financial services to non-profit organizations both as an external service provider and internally as a Director. Over his 25 year career, he has served on Non-Profit Board of Directors in the capacity of Vice President and Treasurer. He brings a wealth of knowledge regarding the governance of the Board of Directors and the fiscal discipline to help guide MashUp.
Hayden Panettiere, a very successful and talented actress, singer and producer has appeared in countless films and television shows including the leading role of "Claire" in the hit NBC drama series "Heroes". She has used her many achievements to further the well being of several communities including dolphin and wale conservation. Hayden is immensely passionate about protecting animal rights and is incredibly active with charities such as Orca Network, Save the Whales, and The Whaleman Foundation. Along with her compassion for animals, Hayden is also an advocate of the Ronald McDonald Foundation as well as a member of the celebrity board for this organization which supports families and children facing medical struggles. Haydens accomplishments in the entertainment and involvement in these charities has brought awareness to their worthy and important causes.
Kimberly Taylor-Pestell is a local creative and art maker. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and is a photographer, blog writer, and owner of Lacelit, a paperworks and lifestyle goods company featuring her ink and water color designs. She grew up in the performing arts studying dance, theatre, voice, and gymnastics, and began choreographing for children's musicals at age 13. She later founded the In Step Dance Group in Pasadena and the As the Deer contemporary dance team in Azusa, and choreographed many productions including Seussical, Zombie Prom, The Goodbye Girl and the APU Annual Drama Awards. She was district manager for the Academy of Music and Dance where she established and oversaw all studio office operations, productions and competition teams before making the move to higher education at California Institute of Technology in 2010. She now works in Communications and Marketing at Harvey Mudd College while continuing to build her Lacelit art business.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a graduate of Ohio University, Dyan is the Founder and Owner of the Los Angeles-based hospitality PR shop Soda Pop Public Relations. Established in 2011, Soda Pop specializes in creating fresh and successful campaigns and events for food, beverage and lifestyle brands. Performing arts played a defining role in Dyan’s childhood and although she’s not technically trained in the art of dancing, nothing makes her happier than busting a move to 90s hip-hop. When she’s not in the office (or busting a move) you will find her at a local restaurant with friends, planning her next trip to Paris, or relaxing at home with her husband and impossibly adorable dog. Dyan is honored to sit on the board of MashUp and looks forward to an exciting year ahead.
